Loved the self guided tour. Have done this at other attractions and think its great. Really brings out the story and you knows you dont miss anything.
Dont think this would interest smaller kids. My late-teen kids enjoyed it and found it moving
Informative to the best degree

This was the best 12 dollars I have spent in Australia. Coming from the UK I have seen castles etc older than Australia with features and guides that excel but 90 minutes in the Hyde Park Barracks tops the lot . The way the audio guide functions you can take your time ,go back and refresh without a guide hurrying you on through the experience.. don't fail to miss this excellent visit.you won't regret it .
A Real Interesting and Educational Experience

We probably would say this was the best museum we visited in Sydney and we liked them all. This museum is focused on the experience of the first European settlers and provides real, personal stories that add the human touch to the history. We felt it was very well curated and the use of the technology to tell the stories was excellent. This is well worth the time.
Very interesting tour, nicely automated

We took the tour and were quite impressed with all the exhibits. Nicely automated and the stories seemed quite realistic. Especially impressed with the miniature models and the overall 3 level setup.
Also noticed recognition to Irish immigrants which was somewhat unique. Would definitely recommend.
Convict History Retained

The Hyde Park Barracks has significant history for Sydney (and Australia) and it is great that the site has been preserved. The museum was well done but not great but worthy of a visit to experience how many of the early Australians (convicts) lived back then. The audio tour was well done, but some of the displays were less inspiring.
