Overview

Our distillery tour and tasting is located in a truly unique location. We are based in the heart of The Rocks in Sydney, almost under the iconic Harbour Bridge.
Our distillery is easy to get to via ferry, bus, train and tram and there are lots of activities in and around The Rocks to entertain you before or after your tour.
The distillery itself it built in a historic bond building that used to house goods sent to Australia from all over the world. One of Australias largest and oldest gantry cranes was located in the building and the steel girders holding up the building are the same used in the building of the Harbour Bridge under which we are located.
The tour itself takes you from the starting point of whisky (the grain), right through to the barreling process. Our gin still produces all of our award winning gin right on site.
For pre or post dining or drinks, Hickson House also features a full bar and dining room to enjoy while spending some time with us.

What To Expect

The Rocks
Your tour commences with a welcome drink at our incredible 8 metre high front bar. Most enjoy a Gin and Tonic to take on their distillery tour, but non-alcoholic options are available too.
Next, we take you into our working distillery to discover the process to make our award winning gin and our whisky which is ageing and ready for release in years to come. Learn about the whisky and gin making process end to end during a 30 minute guided tour. Taste and smell the botanicals used to create our Hickson Rd Gin.
Next we make our way to the tasting room where you will guided through a tasting of our three unique Hickson Rd Gins, paired with tonic.
Finally, enjoy a $5 discount on any purchases made at our distillery cellar door, which stocks all of our gin products and a large selection of merchandise and gifting items.

Grin and Tonic

I booked this tour as a birthday gift for my husband and we loved it! Although we are not big drinkers, it was fascinating to learn about gin and whisky production and go "behind the scenes" to the distillery for a sensory experience - sights, smells, sounds, touch and best of all, taste! I think my new favourite drink is the "Australian" Gin and Tonic. Right next door is the beautifully appointed bar and eatery where you can continue your evening. Highly recommended!
Excellent distillery tour, great staff, wonderful gin

The whole experience from start to finish was great. Lindsay is an absolute gem who not only knows her stuff but is very engaging too. Do yourself a favour and get along. Did I mention the gin? Outstanding, particularly the Australian Dry. Also looking forward to the whiskey coming of age. We didn’t have enough time to dine there, but there were plenty of satisfied faces from those that did. Do it, you’ll be glad that you did. Cheers
Hickson House is a must visit whether catch up with friends, casual drinks or learning about gin

Highly recommend Hickson House & Distillery. The perfect combo would be going on the Gin tour and tasting followed by the Bar and Restaurant. Such a great spot in The Rocks in a sandstone building with a beautiful bar, lighting and aesthetic with good food, large servings and service to match. It's a little known spot but honestly deserves more attention. Would highly recommend any of their cocktails particularly the Rhubi Spritz, Tiny Dancer, Lost Weekend, Miso Honey and if you're looking for food the Kingfish and Oysters to start and the Barramundi or Flank Steak as a main. Trust me, its filling so come hungry. Definitely will return with more of my friends.
Great place to catch up with friends and have a drink

We have given great tour of whiskey and gin in the distillery, very nice service and great ambiance , perfect music and beautiful place. Loved their Australian gin.
We also had small foods which was great but steak was average which was expected as it’s not a steak restaurant .

Overall loved our experience and will go back soon again
Must try

My husband & I visited the distillery as he is from the UK & feeling homesick. The lady that conducted the tour was engaging & overtly passionate about her profession.
The gin & tonic to start was lovely, & the gin tastings were generous. We bought a bottle to take home with us.
We would recommend this tour to everyone!
