For our 40th wedding anniversary, my husband and I went to Sydney, Australia, for the first time in our lives. The Real Sydney private tour was one of the highlights of our trip and set the tone for the rest of our time in Australia.
Our punctual tour guide Darryl, picked us up from our hotel in a comfortable van, equiped with a step stool for short people, like me. She also delivered us on time to a restaurant, for a meal and another tour scheduled directly after this one.
We couldn't pick just one part of the tour as a favorite, so here are numerous elements of the tour we liked:
Darryl entertained us with an encyclopedia of information about Sydney without over sharing.
Darryl took us to places we wouldn't have traveled to on our own, like Mrs. Macquarie's chair and more out of the way, beautiful parks.
We went to the best places to take photos of the famous Sydney landmarks such as the Opera House juxtaposed with the Harbour Bridge and skyline.
Darryl gave us advice on where to shop for opals and helped us take pictures.
Darryl knew the best routes to take to avoid multiple road construction and traffic congestion in Sydney, so we could spend more time exploring this town.
Here are some helpful tips to make your tour more enjoyable:
Don't forget to bring a camera as there are tons of photo opportunities on this tour.
If you go in October, which is spring in Australia, make sure to bring a rain jacket, a light sweater (pullover) and layered clothing.
Wear walking shoes, because althrough this is a van tour, there are many stops to explore while walking.
Allow at least four to six hours for this tour.
Come with prepared questions about Sydney, for example, its history or where is the best places to eat your faviorite foods, tea, romantic meals, clothes shopping, sport activities and museums, ect.
Know that this tour can be customized to meet your needs, so put in writing what you would like to do before hand.
We would take another private tour with Darryl and Real Sydney tours based upon our prior experience. This activitiy is well worth the expensive.
